Book a Campanile

A stopover in a hotel can break the journey from Calais. Campaniles offer good "motel" style rooms. Rooms with a double bed are £60 a night and the attached restaurants are cheap and decent quality. Rouen (on the Vache roundabout, you go past the door) and Alencon are convenient from Calais.

Notes:

Distance from Calais to site is 495 miles. A new motorway opened in late 2005 from Rouen to Le Mans so it's motorway nearly all the way which makes this route much
more practical than it used to be.

Driving from the western ports of Caen or St Malo is quicker and there is a much lower cost in tolls as well as petrol so it is worth comparing the cost of a Brittany Ferries crossing (with our 20% discount) and lower driving costs versus a cheap Dover - Calais crossing with higher driving costs.
